A new wave of academic success stories is emerging from the Rohingya community, as several young Rohingya scholars have secured full scholarships to universities in Malaysia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom under international refugee education programs.
Among the recipients is Mohammad Anas, 20, who will begin his Bachelor of Public Health at the University of Malaya this August. “I want to become a voice for those who cannot speak, especially in refugee camps where healthcare is often neglected,” he said.
Organizations like UNHCR, DAFI, and JRS have played a key role in creating pathways to higher education for Rohingya students. ARSF is also working closely with diaspora scholars to offer mentoring and application support.
This growing recognition is not just a personal victory for the students, but a symbol of resilience and intellectual potential within the displaced community.
